PAUL KASS - PRESIDENT
BROADCASTING & TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR, PLACERITA JUNIOR HIGH
Paul is a math and technology teacher for 30 years. He currently teaches at Placerita Junior High School in Newhall, Ca. When he started at Placerita, he created Kid Flix Productions as a way for students to make digital movies. 29 years later, he still oversees the program and produces Miner Morning TV, Miner Monthly TV, and a new podcast Miner Details. Paul’s other passion is in LEGO Robotics. Paul joined STN 21 years ago.
PHIL BERMAN -VICE PRESIDENT
PRODUCER, CBS LOS ANGELES
Phil Berman is a producer with CBS/KCAL News in Los Angeles, and is the Treasurer for the STN board. Throughout his 21+ year career, Phil has produced for news stations in Miami, Tampa, Sarasota, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has produced, reported and anchored in Greenville, Mississippi. Outside of the newsroom… Phil likes to travel the world, host celebrity game nights, bake gluten free desserts, read mystery books, and practice origami- the Japanese art of paper folding. He’s taken part in STN conventions since 2013, and has no plans of stopping! Phil’s favorite part of STN is being able to give back to future journalists.
JENNIFER SUZUKI - SECRETARY
MEDIA INSTRUCTOR, MAUI WAENA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Jennifer has been teaching at Maui Waena Intermediate School for 25 years, the first 11 in the language arts department. Then in 2009 she started the media program at her school. Since starting the program, the students have garnered both state and national awards, as well as producing videos for community partners and non-profit organizations. Her students also produce the school’s daily show, Daily Dive, and a weekly show, Falcon Features.
Jennifer resides on Maui with her wonderful husband, Don, her two sons, Holden and Nathan, and her two dogs, Bonnie and Dozer, who really run the house.
JOSHUA BISHOP - BOARD MEMBER
A Massachusetts native now living in sunny Southern California, Josh is now in his 6th year teaching students at Clark Magnet High School in the areas of Broadcast and Digital Cinema Production. His program, Panther Studios, has achieved great success in his short time at the helm, winning 1st place in several national competitions. Many of his students have continued on to pursue a career in Broadcast and Film Production. A firm believer in the power of building community, Josh works hard to instill a sense of belonging in all of the students in his program. "It Takes an Army" is a battle call for his students to step up and support each other when times get tough.
Before teaching, Josh worked in the industry producing content for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, the A&E Network, and WCVB-TV News in Boston. He brings with him experience in all areas of production, emphasizing the importance screenwriting and post have in the final product. He looks forward to contributing to the continued success of STN, and welcoming new broadcasting and film programs to the STN Family.

PAULINE CABOTAGE - TREASURER
Pauline was introduced to STN as a student at Maui High School. Since then, she has been a supporter of STEM throughout the island by helping launch media and technology programs, mentorship, etc. Currently, Pauline is “adulting” in business operations, consulting, and strategy, but finds the most fulfillment in cultivating meaningful human connections. She travels, reads, and eats extensively in equal measures, and will always be happy to share a chat or a picture of her cat.
DR. DEVIN MARSH - BOARD MEMBER
TV/FILM PRODUCTION INSTRUCTOR, MIAMI ARTS STUDIO
Dr. Marsh has dedicated the majority of his adult life to the classroom, the studio, and the stage. His journey began with childhood piano lessons that sparked a passion for music, ultimately earning him a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he studied under world-renowned vibraphonist Gary Burton.
Following his time in Boston, Dr. Marsh relocated to Miami to continue his education at the University of Miami. This move marked the beginning of an extensive academic career that led to degrees in education, music production, and composition. Throughout his studies, he remained active in the music scene—performing and recording internationally with his own band, Nori Nori, and collaborating on a wide range of projects with other artists.
A committed educator and advocate for the arts, Dr. Marsh is the executive director and co-founder of the After School Film Institute (ASFI), a nonprofit organization that empowers youth in underserved South Florida communities by teaching every aspect of the filmmaking process. He also serves as the director of the internationally award-winning Television and Film magnet program at Miami Arts Studio while he continues to compose, record, and perform.
Beyond his work in the classroom, Dr. Marsh plays a significant role in shaping arts education across the state. He chairs the Education Council of Film Florida and serves on the board of the Student Television Network. His excellence in teaching has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named a finalist or winner of Teacher of the Year honors at the local, regional, and state levels.

SARA BORETZ - BOARD MEMBER
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER & FORMER FUNDRAISING RESEARCH COORDINATOR
Sara Boretz is a community volunteer who gives her time to the Upland Library, the Red Cross and Jericho Road. Before retiring, she worked in fundraising as a prospect research coordinator for non-profits including California State University, Pomona and the Los Angeles Music Center. She helped both organizations to find resources from individuals, corporations and foundations. She served on the board of the California Advancement Researchers Association as convention and volunteer chair.
In her spare time, she can often be found baking, reading or working on puzzles of all kinds. She is married to Mitch, a retired grant writer and administrator and has grown twin daughters.
