#MediaMonday: Connect with Convention

Good Morning Everyone,

This is the week: convention week!

If your program looks anything like mine, this past month was filled with gear checks, last-minute practice, critiques and lots of team building to get ready for this weekend. Many member schools and affiliate programs view the STN National Convention as the culminating event of the year and we are so excited to be back to an in-person/hybrid model.

Within this new hybrid model, there are many ways for schools to connect with other schools all over the country, so this week's email topic is: Connection.

A network is defined as "a group or system of interconnected people or things". The name Student Television Network implies that we form and maintain a connection, regardless of experience, region, skill-level, or identity. The true beauty of STN is that students and teachers alike can come together and meet, mingle, and form that interconnection of people that strengthens us all in the process.

If this is your first or twenty first STN convention, I wanted to offer a reminder of various ways that you and your students can connect with our network this weekend.

First, THE TEACHER MIXER!

Advisors from all schools/programs are invited to meet each other, share ideas, and hear from special guests: Les Rose (Syracuse) and Mark Lukasiewicz (Hofstra). Omar Delgado and Zach Garrett will be there to welcome you all. There will be light appetizers and drinks provided at no cost to you. We really appreciate both Syracuse and Hofstra University for sponsoring this event! To RSVP, following this link: STN Long Beach 2022 Teacher Mixer.

Second, THE COLLEGE AND SPONSOR EXPO!

Students and Advisors will have the ability to meet with other student and advisors from around the country as they explore the college and sponsor expo. This expo allows individuals to connect with colleges and major players in the industry, making connections with people and institutions that might be the push that a student needs to take the leap into college or the professional sector. Plus, there will be many students like them doing the same thing, making it easy for students to strike up conversations between booths.

Third, BOOTCAMPS and FEEDBACK SESSIONS!

This year, we are offering Bootcamps and Feedback Sessions at no additional cost for attendees to have their work seen by professionals and to get that added boost before competing. This is amazing for our students, as they get to connect with other students as well as professionals who will give them honest feedback on their work. (We are super excited about this).

Lastly, CHECK THE MASTER SCHEDULE!

There are many activities and event, both virtual and in-person, which will give students an unforgettable experience while connecting with peers and professionals. Please follow the link above to choose the activities that are right for you and your kids.

I look forward to seeing all of the hard work from your students. It is an honor to work with all of you and to connect with you throughout the year, as well as during convention. Please reach out if you need anything and best of luck to all of your students.
