#Media Monday: Micro Christmas Film

Good mooring Everyone,

Since the year is wrapping up, I just wanted to send out a really fun short film for you to share with your kids.

This is an 80 second film from one of my favorite short filmmakers right now. His name is Jeroen Houben and the film is called Best Wishes and here is the link: https://vimeo.com/82282346

This is a "silent" Christmas shootout film about two men with remotes and Christmas lights. There are a few things that you can do with this after you share it with students.

Some Ideas are:

  • Laugh and move on.

  • Have a discussion about 3-act structure and have the students map out the narrative of this film.

  • Discuss how editing and cinematography are tools used to tell stories, totally independent from dialogue.

  • Discuss how sound design changes throughout this film and how it creates meaning within the audience.

  • Talk about how simple and effective this film is and how we can all learn the value of a clear idea when making our own films.

I know this is the last week of school for some of you, so please enjoy the time off and we will see you all in January for a new year!

Talk to you soon,

Josh Cantrell
