Sheri Stilson, Executive Director

Sheri is a San Diego native who has 20 years of experience in the entertainment and event industry.

After graduating from San Diego State University with two student Emmys, Sheri began her career stage managing for the San Diego Padres and working as a technician at SeaWorld.  She went on to be a TV producer for reality, competition, and game shows in Hollywood for 10 years and has a vast industry network to draw from. Some of the networks she has teamed with are HGTV, FOX, CBS, BRAVO, MTV, Warner Brothers, and Animal Planet.

Sheri also held a position as the Event Supervisor at the LEGOLAND California Resort and led teams through large scale seasonal and education events, daily operations, and press junkets for 10 years in a variety of roles.  She volunteers as a wish granter with Make a Wish, teaches her own online courses about how to break into Hollywood, and looks for ways to give back. 


Shonda Tindall, Outreach & Engagement Manager 

Shonda has over 18 years experience teaching journalism, filmmaking, and media arts.  She is also an experienced freelance media designer specializing in photography, graphic design, and video production.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Nebraska, with a focus on multimedia journalism and social media marketing. 

Shonda lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband, Troy, and children, Colby and Emma.  When she is not being a mom or working, you will most likely find her on her sofa binge watching some true crime show surrounded by her fur babies, Molly, Birdie, Roux, Bella, Jax, Tigger and Indie.  


Josh Cantrell, Education Coordinator

Josh Cantrell teaches media at Central High School in Springfield, Missouri, specializing in broadcast journalism and film production. The outstanding work of both his broadcast program, Central Intelligence, and his film program, 1893 Productions, is continually recognized at conventions and film festivals all over the world. 

In addition to his work in the classroom, Josh also recognized a need to build a community for high school filmmakers. In 2015, he started the Central Film Festival which has now gone on to be one of the largest student film festivals in the country.  

He lives in Springfield with his amazing wife Jena, and their son, Sam.


Michele Schaefer, Executive Assistant

Michele has extensive experience in education and supporting administrators, co-teachers, peers, and students.  She brings a love of organization, support, and follow through to any task she is given whether that is teaching, administrative support, or her new current hobby - knitting. 

Michele lives in Bandon, Oregon and enjoys walking on the beach with her dog, Juno and the visits from her husband, David, and her college age children, Sam and Ella Rose. 


Dave Davis, Contest Coordinator

As the organization's founder and first president, Dave Davis was instrumental in the early years of STN. He was the driving force behind the creation of the STN Convention, serving as its chairman from 2004 to 2008. His innovative spirit led to the formation of several key contests that have become staples of the STN Convention, including the STN Challenge, the STN Nationals, and the Sweet 16, now known as the Crazy 8s. His contributions have fostered an environment of healthy competition and educational excellence within STN.

In addition to his work with STN, Dave recently retired after 41 years of teaching at Hillcrest High School, where he spent 34 years as the creator and adviser to HTV Magazine since 1989 and the Bay 11 podcast since 2017. He guided his students to win 17 Broadcast Pacemaker Awards and 10 Robert F. Kennedy High School Journalism Awards, along with more than 30 first-place production awards. He has also been the Director of the ASB Workshop, training broadcast teachers since 2000, and founded the ASB 4-State Fall Conference in 2008.

Dave lives in Springfield, MO, with his wife Martha and their daughters Jenny and Lindsey. A lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Dave's passion for baseball is as enduring as his dedication to student broadcasting. His tenure as a baseball coach at Hillcrest is marked by notable successes, including leading the Legion team to a state championship in 1987 and the high school team to a state championship in 1988.
