#MediaMonday: Podcasting

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope all of you had a lot of fun watching the STN 60 Second Horror Festival films last Friday. I love student films and am always so amazing by the talent of our students. I deeply enjoyed sharing in the festival with all of you and I hope that it gave your classrooms an opportunity to connect with the STN community and build some positive classroom culture.

Since the festival is over, my next project is to begin working on some lessons about podcasting. Over the years, I have had many conversations with teachers wanting to publish this elusive creature called a "podcast" but many feel as if it is beyond their abilities. While the podcasting lesson plans are on their way, I wanted to share an awesome tool with all of you that makes podcasting shockingly easy and free...and...it is really, really good.

Today's resource is www.anchor.fm.

It lets you record, publish and distribute podcasts to the world quickly and economically. It takes away all of the technical mess of the old days of RSS feed burning and lets you focus on content. With a few clicks, the work that your students create are suddenly on iTunes, Spotify and about 15 other services that you've never even heard of.

Honestly, I have no idea why this thing is free, but it is, so I encourage all of you to build some accounts today and get to publishing!

Do you have other podcasting resources? Let us know on the list serve!

Talk to you soon,

Josh Cantrell
