STN is beginning an exciting new chapter this year by offering students the opportunity to be a part of the STN Content Creator Team. This initiative allows high school students the chance to intern exclusively for STN throughout the school year. Students will create content for projects to be featured on our website, social media, podcasts, and much more.
Interested candidates need to submit the application no later than September 12, 2024. Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to apply:
WHO SHOULD APPLY
Any high school student currently enrolled in a current STN member video production program
At least one (1) year experience in shooting, editing, and producing videos, whether through school projects, personal projects, or extracurricular activities
Familiar with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci, etc.)
Can provide a demo reel that demonstrates a range of skills, from on-air talent and camera work to editing and storytelling
Have the recommendation of your STN adviser (STN will email form after application is received)
Students may apply individually or as part of a two (2) person team from a member school
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS
When applying to be part of the STN Content Creators Team, students must meet certain criteria and demonstrate specific skills and qualities:
A genuine passion for storytelling, journalism, filmmaking, or other forms of media creation
A strong work ethic and a professional attitude, including respect for deadlines, attention to detail, and a willingness to accept feedback
Interest in receiving mentorship and participating in team meetings or training sessions
Awareness of current trends in news and media
Ability to work well in a team setting, as content creation often involves collaboration with peers
A creative approach to content creation, with unique ideas or perspectives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for pitching ideas, conducting interviews, and working with a team
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
Reliability in following through on commitments and producing quality work under time constraints
Basic understanding of social media platforms and how to create content tailored to different audiences
Awareness of STN’s mission, values, and previous content, showing a clear understanding of what the organization stands for.
